Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. Join NMPL at National Night Out! August 7, 2018
Stop by and say hello to us TONIGHT at National Night Out and play the popular Duck Duck Dewey Game! New Milford’s National Night Out will be celebrated this year behind the town’s high school from 7pm to 10pm. Our “town wide” block party twill feature food, music, rides, face painting and more. There will also be displays by law enforcement, emergency services, the Army, the Navy and the Marines. This event is free. Saturday Summer Hours at NMPL!
Our Saturday Summer hours begin July 7th! We’ll be open from 9am to 1pm. We’re closed on: Saturday June 23 and 30, Wednesday July 4, Saturday August 25, and Labor Day Weekend September 1, 2, and 3. Everyone have a great and safe summer!
Summer Reading Kick-off with Magical Melodies! Wednesday June 27 at 6pm
It’s our Summer Reading Kick-Off! We invite kids of all ages (and their parents/caregivers) to a musical program: Magic Melodies on Wednesday June 27th, 2018 at 6pm. Mr. Chris has been delighting crowds all over Bergen County for the past few years! High energy classic children’s songs get everyone dancing and shaking, and then marching in an awesome parade led by the trombone! Come sing, dance, rock and shake with us at Magical Melodies! Children can sign-up for the Summer Reading program too.

New Milford Fire Marshall Alan Silverman will speak about Home Fire Safety at the June 12th meeting of the Friends of the New Milford Public Library. The meeting will begin at 7 pm and the talk at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the New Milford Public Library, 200 Dahlia Drive, New Milford, NJ. There is no charge. Everyone is welcome. Hold requests back up to 10 on June 1st! – June 1, 2018
Good news patrons. After careful deliberation, BCCLS is raising the limit for hold requests from 3 at a time to 10! This will go into effect on June 1st. eBCCLS Transitioning from CloudLibrary to OverDrive – April 17, 2018
Starting Wednesday, April 18, 2018, no new holds on eBooks or eAudiobooks will be permitted in cloudLibrary. eBCCLS is transitioning from cloudLibrary to OverDrive in early May. Any current holds or accounts will not transfer to the new service. More information on this new platform will be coming soon, including a brand new application and expanded device compatibility.

As of Monday, February 26th, 2018 BCCLS users can have up to 3 requests at a time.
■ If you already have more than 3 requests, they will not be automatically cancelled.
■ You will not be able to place any new requests until your current requests have been reduced to less than 3.
■ You may choose to cancel requests that you no longer need or want in order to make it possible to place new requests.

Free Tax Help – February 2, 2018
The New Milford Public Library will offer free tax preparation to Seniors over 60 years of age and low to moderate income taxpayers. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning February 6th between 10am and 3pm. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling 201-261-1221. Participants are asked to bring a driver’s license, state ID or passport, Social Security Card or a 2017 SSA-1099 and a copy of their 2016 tax return.

BCCLS libraries are still experiencing major delays with the new state-wide delivery system. BCCLS Requests Unavailable December 15, 2017 to January 8, 2017!
The option to request items through the BCCLS catalog will be disabled from December 15th through January 8th as we transition to a new delivery service.
